March 2000 to present

Week 57 - Ending April 7th

Shelby saw Dr. J on Tuesday April 3rd. Her last appointment was in January. Once again, overall her progress remains steady.

Shelby's elbows, hands, and knees still show quite a bit of inflammation. Dr. J had increased the Plaquenil dosage to 300 mg per day back in November. We haven't noticed any positive changes because of this. Dr. J decided to try Shelby on a new medicine, Colchicine .5 mg per day. This medication is sometimes used for patience with gout. We hope it will make a change. There is a chance it could make the "rash" worse. Dr. J also lowered Shelby's Predinose dosage to 5 mg every day, then in June go to 5 mg. every other day.

Shelby's strength and endurance continues to improve. She's pretty active and doesn't seem to tire as easily. She's never been a real althlete but enjoys bike riding, swimming, dancing, and doing Tae-Bo. We've got to get back on our schedule for that again! We used to do it at least 3x per week but I think we got burned out. Maybe this summer we'll get back on track. We also plan to do lots of golfing this summer.

Shelby's weight has finally stabilized. She's not gaining any weight and the puffiness in her face is starting to decrease.

Both of the kids are getting anxious for the end of school so they can "sleep in" and do some other fun stuff. They will spend a week with their Grandma and Grandpa Baatz in July.
